Testing
The report should match the vial.
How batch documentation is structured, what each field records, and which analytical methods are commonly referenced.
A consistent set of fields
Documentation is easier to read when it always appears in the same shape. Records are filed against a batch reference and use the fields below, in this order. We describe what each field records — we do not interpret results on your behalf.
- Batch ID
- The reference printed on the vial label. Everything else is filed against it.
- Identity
- The result of the method used to confirm the material matches the stated specification.
- Purity
- A reported figure produced by the stated method, with its reporting limits.
- Method
- The analytical technique used, named so the result can be read in context.
- Report
- The document reference for the full record held for that batch.

Methods
Analytical methods, in general terms
A short, non-exhaustive description of techniques commonly named in analytical records.
HPLC
High-performance liquid chromatography
Separates the components of a sample so that relative peak areas can be measured and reported.
LC-MS
Liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry
Combines separation with mass measurement, allowing components to be characterised by mass.
Appearance & packaging checks
Visual inspection
Documented checks on the physical presentation of the material and the integrity of its container.
What we do not claim
Documentation describes the analysis performed on a batch. It is not a statement of suitability for any application beyond laboratory research, and nothing on this site should be read as such. Materials are supplied for laboratory research purposes only.
